Sex Education Film Festival
The Sex Education Film Festival is the first international short film festival exclusively dedicated to sex education. It was founded in 2020 in the vibrant city of Terrassa, driven by the vision and efforts of Nadia Guma and Iván Albacete, a team committed to creating a space where cinema could become a powerful tool for social transformation.
The idea for the festival emerged from a group of friends, all experts in areas such as cinema, communication, education, and sexuality. Aware of the need to address the lack of proper sex education, they decided to combine their talents and experiences to create an event that would not only entertain but also educate and raise awareness about the importance of sex education in society.
Since its first edition, the Sex Education Film Festival has grown into a must-attend event for film enthusiasts and those interested in learning more about topics related to sexuality. This festival is a unique space where the best international cinema is combined with short films that explore and reflect the various facets of sex education. Over the years, the festival has featured an outstanding selection of short films competing for awards, while also organizing educational activities aimed at promoting values such as respect, self-awareness, acceptance, and freedom of expression.
The festival covers a wide range of essential topics for understanding and discussing sexuality. Among the highlighted themes in the short films are gender violence, sexual health, gender identity, consent, LGTBIQ+ rights, and body awareness, among others. Each of these themes is presented with a creative and educational approach, aiming to generate deep reflections among the audience.
The Sex Education Film Festival has two main categories: Teens and Adults. The Teens category is aimed at adolescents, with a special focus on the participation of schools and institutes. This space allows young people to access vital information about sexuality in a way that is accessible and adapted to their age. On the other hand, the Adults category is open to all audiences, with a special focus on those over 18, providing a space for learning and exchanging ideas among adults.
